Recall Disclaimer

What recall checks do
When you run a recall check on an item, Home Data Book queries the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) SaferProducts public API using the item's brand name and, if available, model number. Results that appear to match your item are flagged as "Possible match."
What recall checks do not do
- Recall checks do not cover non-CPSC recalls — including vehicle recalls (NHTSA), food recalls (FDA/USDA), pharmaceutical recalls, or manufacturer-direct recalls not reported to CPSC.
- A "No matches found" result does not mean the item is safe or has never been recalled. The item may not be in the CPSC database, or the record may not match the search terms used.
- A "Possible match" result does not confirm your specific item is recalled. Brand names can apply to many unrelated products; results should be verified against the specific model and serial number on the official recall notice.
- Recall data has a lag. Recent recalls may not yet appear in the database at the time of your check.
How to verify a recall
If a possible match is found, check the official recall notice linked in the result, then verify the product's model number and date of manufacture against the recalled range. Contact the manufacturer directly if you are uncertain.
